The Great Event

A GREAT DAY FOR THE WORLD

Today, January 20, 2009, is a great day for the world, when Barrack Obama will be sworn in as the next President of the United States. There is jubilation all around the globe. Something special has happpened for the people of the world. It is as if a new chapter has opened up for the denizens of the planet earth. All of a sudden everyone feels united with everyone else-- not just with the Americans.

What has happened? It is as if someone has written a new chapter in the history of the world -- a chapter that will signal the coming of much goodness, love and peace and wipe out the tears of yesterday.

Where has this new undefined feeling come from and what is so special about Barrack Obama? In truth no one can really define this feeling. He is after all a human being with human failings.

But then who has written this new chapter for the people of the world? The answer is -- He who created the world, He who cares for the world and He who must sustain the world. God. Anyone who believes in God must come to this inevitable conclusion

Yes, it is God Himself who has chosen Barrack Obama, to usher in a new era
of peace into the world. It matters little how much belief Obama has in God, and how deep his faith is in religion. It is not he who has chosen his own fate-- the great determining power is God Himself. Why has He chosen Obama?

Who knows? How can anyone try to explain the Will of God? There was a time when he chose an atheist like Gorbachev, to do His bidding upon the planet earth, and to bring about a new era of peace into the world. Of course he also chose Reagan at the same time, and brought the two together in one of the greatest miracles of history. We are now again on the threshold of a similar earth shaking event. He chose Obama because he liked Obama, he saw something very great and good and noble the man.

It is His Will that works in the world, and today we see Obama as part of that Divine Will. That explains the wave of happiness that pervades the world on this day.

It is God being happy.

A Tribute To America

The election of Obama as President of the US has shown to the world
that America is now truly the greatest nation in the world. The words
of Abraham Lincoln ring out in our ears today:

"Fourscore and seven years ago our forefathers came upon this continent and conceived a nation so dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal..."

Lincoln waged a civil war against white Americans who sought to
enslave the Black Americans. He risked perpetuating a division of the
country to free the Negro slaves.

And yet it was to be many years before his words were to ring out to
be true.

Today with the election of Obama to the highest office in the land--
with the greatest voter turnout recorded in American History, America,
and indeed the great American people, have vindicated themselves to be
the greatest in the world.

The greatness of the American people was also revealed in the last, dignified speech of Obama's rival, John McCain, who graciously conceded defeat and spoke out for the great values that have inspired the American nation to elect Obama.

Let us not forget the past -- when many a time, despite the enormous
blunders made by former US Administrations-- America was in the
forefront when feeding the poor of the world, America was in the
forefront when the world had to be rid of the horrors of the Nazi
holocausts..

But never, never has America been so great as it is now, with the
election of a man of black African Negro descent as its President, voted into power enthusiastically and lovingly by millions of Americans..

This should be enough to halt the America-baiters for a long long
time..

If I were ever to decide to settle down in the US it would not be for
the sake of the jobs or dollars or opportunities there, but it would
be just to be amongst such wonderful, loving folk who dwell in a land
where they sing:

"This land is my land,
This land is your land
From California
To the New York Island
From the Redwood Forest,
To the Gulf Stream waters,
This land was made for you and me!"
